Description

The Euskampus Fundazioa was certified as a Scientific and Innovation Culture Unit by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) in 2012. As a Scientific Culture Unit (UCC) the foundation acts mainly through the UPV/EHU Chair for Scientific Culture (CCC), as part of a long-standing relationship wherein the CCC acts as a tool for the roll-out of UCC activities.

The CCC is the chair in further training created by UPV/EHU in October 2010, with funding from the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.

The chair works to promote scientific culture among the public, by holding conferences, workshops, competitions, summer schools, training, audiovisual productions, etc., and by publishing a range of digital journals (Mapping Ignorance, Cuaderno de Cultura Científica, Zientzia Kaiera, Mujeres con Ciencia and Zientzia.info).

Content published by the CCC includes specific scientific principles and their applications to a range of technologies, recent scientific discoveries, how science is produced and analysis of its social implications. There is also an emphasis on scientific values and the significance of science as a cultural asset.
