Description

The KSIgune Cultural and Creative Industries Cluster was set up as a strategic tool to develop actions in the fields of higher education, research, innovation and transfer related mainly to the needs of the cultural and creative sector.

In 2020, the Deputy Minister for Universities and Research from the Basque Government’s Department of Education commenced the process of creating clusters of Basque Higher Education centres with skills related to Cultural and Creative Industries, in which 20 Faculties and Schools from four Universities and 5 Higher Education Centres took part.

In the same year, the Basque Deputy Minister for Culture deployed the RIS3 EUSKADI CREATIVA Strategy, aimed at professionalising and internationalising the sector.

The confluence of the two Departments, Education and Culture, resulted in KSIgune, an ecosystem which led to the coming together of Higher Education and the Sector through their stakeholders. KSIgune’s mission is to mine the wealth of the Basque cultural and creative ecosystem, fostering cooperation between nodes and with other sectors, and to grow its social impact.
